Democracy for America Palm
        Beach County

DFA Palm Beach County is a local chapter of Democracy For America.
We are committed to growing a strong progressive voice in Palm Beach County,
grooming and electing progressive candidates in all levels of government and
promoting progressive issues on local, state and national levels.

DFAPBC is pleased to endorse the following candidates:

Senator Nan Rich
Progressive Democrat for Florida Governor
Democratic Primary Election August 26th, 2014
 Nan Rich

As a State Representative and then State Senator, Nan Rich earned a reputation as a passionate and effective champion for children, families, and women’s issues.  The first woman elected Leader of the Florida Senate Democratic Caucus, she aggressively fought for progressive issues and also successful forged bi-partisan coalitions to block legislation restricting women’s reproductive rights and stopping private, for-profit corporations from taking over public schools.

An outspoken advocate for responsible gun laws, the NRA gave Nan an “F-“ on her voting record – the lowest rating of any legislator – and a grade she remains very proud of having earned.

As a civic activist, Nan amassed a long list of accomplishments and achievements including her election as President of the National Council of Jewish Woman and appointment by President Clinton to the board of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Prior to entering public service, Nan and husband David owned and operated a successful small business while raising their family in South Florida.  They have 3 children and 2 grandchildren.

Eric Gooden
Candidate for Boca Raton City Council, Seat B (nonpartisan)
Boca Raton Municipal Election March 11th, 2014

Eric Gooden
Eric Gooden, 25, was born of mixed racial parents in Detroit, Michigan. His family taught him the value of hard work, accountability and  integrity.   During the economic crisis of the auto industry,  Eric worked to support his uncle and grandmother who were both on fixed incomes. This experience made him realize that one person can make a difference.
Gooden relocated to Boca Raton, Florida four years ago to attend Lynn University and is currently completing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.  He decided to make Boca Raton his "hometown and not just his "college town " and has participated in many volunteer community activities.  His experience this past summer working for a U.S. Congressman convinced him that public service is a noble endeavor.  His candidacy for Seat B on the Boca Raton City Council is based upon his belief that he can contribute a fresh perspective, capitalize on the diversity of the city and be a new voice for the entire community of Boca Raton.

Gooden is currently running a classic grass roots, progressive campaign.
